Dr Mohammad Sohail Akhtar

The CSIR Young Scientist Award for the year 2006 in Biological Sciences has been awarded to Dr Mohammad Sohail Akhtar of the Central Drug Research Institute,Lucknow . Dr Akhtar has provided intriguing insights into the role of structural domains of Streptococcus hyaluronate lyase and of ionic interactions in modulating the functional activity and stability of this enzyme.

Dr Rajkumar Banerjee

The CSIR Young Scientist Award for the year 2006 in Chemical Science has been awarded to Dr Rajkumar Banerjee of the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad. Dr Banerjee has made significant contributions to targeted cancer theory using molecular level approach.

Dr Srinivas Hotha

The CSIR Young Scientist Award for the year 2006 in Chemical Science has been awarded to Dr Srinivas Hotha of the National Chemical Laboratory, Pune. Dr Hotha has made important contributions to development of novel diversity oriented pathways for synthesis of chiral, oxygen-rich chemical libraries for applications as chemical genetic probes.

Dr Sandip Kumar Mukhopadhyay

The CSIR Young Scientist Award for the year 2006 in Earth, Atmosphere, Ocean and Planetary Sciences has been awarded to Dr Sandip Kumar Mukhopadhyay of the Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute , Bhavnagar . Dr Mukhopadhyay has made significant contributions to our understanding of estuarine biogeochemical processes and to the emission of greenhouse gas emissions from coastal wetlands.

Dr Prakash Kumar

The CSIR Young Scientist Award for the year 2006 in Earth, Atmosphere, Ocean and Planetary Sciences has been awarded to Dr Prakash Kumar of the National Geophysical Research Institute , Hyderabad . Dr Prakash Kumar has contributed to the understanding of lithosphere-aesthenosphere boundary which will have impact as the model for regional plate tectonics for Indian plate.

Dr P. Thanikaivelan

The CSIR Young Scientist Award for the year 2006 in Engineering Sciences has been awarded to Dr P.Thanikaivelan of the Central Leat her Research institute , Chennai. Dr Thanikaivelan is instrumental in the innovation of a new pollution free route to leather processing of great industrial significance.
